The Tbilisi Sakrebulo - local government in Tbilisi has decided to rename three streets. Henceforth, the capital of Georgia will have streets named after famous Georgian actress Sofiko Chiaureli, Russia's leading investigative journalist Anna Politkovskaya and Russia's director and actress Olga Konskaya.
Pasanauri Street in the old town will be renamed Sofiko Chiaureli.
Vladimir Djikia Street in the Vake-Saburtalo district will bear the name of the Russian Journalist, Anna Politkovskaya.
Novorossiiskaya Street in the Gldani-Nadzaladevi district will be Olga Konskaya Street.
"These people have fought for the protection of the rights of nations, they fought against imperialism and deserve great respect," said Zaal Samadashvili, the Chairman of the Tbilisi Sakrebulo.
