Minister of National Security of Azerbaijan, Lieutenant-General Eldar Mahmudov was on an official visit to Lithuania at the invitation of the Director of the State Security Department of Lithuania Povilas Malakauskasa, a source at the Center for Public Affairs of the MNS told Trend on Oct. 29.
Lithuanian State Security Department Director noted the importance of the visit of the Minister of National Security of Azerbaijan for the sphere of security and further development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Lithuania.
Eldar Mahmudov spoke about security in the country, protection of energy and transportation infrastructure from threats, international terrorism, illegal drug trafficking, as well as combating transnational organized gangs and illegal migration, including the processes occurring in the region.
The meeting also focused on bilateral cooperation development, reached an agreement on the exchange of information and expertise on issues of mutual concern.
During the official visit, the Prime Minister of Lithuania Andrius Kubilius received Eldar Mahmudov. During the meeting, was noted the high assessment given by the heads of two states to the development and expansion of friendly and business relations between the countries, also held discussions on increasing cooperation in security.
