The Uzbek Embassy in France and Uzbek Permanent Mission to UNESCO held an international conference today devoted to 615th birthday of renowned thinker Mirza Ulugbek with the assistance of the French Astronomical Society and Paris Institute of Astrophysics, the Uzbekistan National News Agency (UzA) reported.
The conference was dedicated to Ulugbek's legacy and attended by scientists and specialists from many countries, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps in Paris and international organizations.
The conference noted Ulugbek's contribution to world science for creating astronomical tables of the motion of over 1,000 stars.
The year 1994 was declared the Year of Ulugbek in Uzbekistan upon the initiative of President Islam Karimov.
