Municipal election's day will be a non-working day in Azerbaijan.
"Based on Article 8.2 of the Azerbaijani Electoral Code, municipal election's day will be a non-working day," Azerbaijani Central Elections Commission Spokesman Azar Sariyev told Trend .
The municipal elections are scheduled for Dec. 23. About 15,682 members are expected to be elected for 1,718 municipalities.
Azerbaijan has registered about 32,000 candidates for municipal members. Candidates from 18 political parties have been registered for elections. Candidates refer to 30 political parties.
Municipal elections were held twice in 1999 and 2004.
The electoral dode deals with this issue, so the commission and other governmental agencies do not have to issue an order in this regard, he added.
