A contract to sell the Mistral aircraft carrier from France to Russia has not been finalized, French Ambassador to Georgia Eric Furnie told journalists today.
He said continuing talks over the sale of the Mistral do not mean an agreement will be reached.
The ambassador once again reaffirmed France's support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
"Consumers are generally interested in goods, but this does not mean there is already a sales agreement. Neither Russia nor France had time to make such a decision," Furnie said.
Georgia, the Baltic countries and several Eastern European countries have expressed concern over the possible sale of the aircraft carrier to Russia.
