Kazakh embassy to operate in Oman in 2010

The Embassy of Kazakhstan will operate in Maskat in 2010, Kazakh ambassador Lama Sharif said during a meeting with Oman Sultanate's State Minister on foreign affairs Yusuf ben Alaui ben Abdulla ben Ibrahim, Kazakh Foreign Ministry Press Secretary Ilyas Omarov reported.
"Oman's State minister on foreign affairs highly estimated Kazakhstan's role in regional and international affairs. He stressed that Maskat will continue to support Astana's initiatives and efforts undertaken in regional and international security, establishment of inter-confessional and inter-religious dialogue," Omarov said.
According to Kazakh Foreign Ministry press secretary Yusuf ben Alaui welcomed Kazakhstan's decision on opening diplomatic representation in Sultanate and confirmed his country's desire t intensify and strengthen multi-aspect mutually beneficial cooperation with Kazakhstan, including trade, economic and investment spheres.
Diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Oman Sultanate were established on April 27 1992. The embassy of this state has been operating in Astana since August 2006. Contractual and legal basis for bilateral cooperation are 8 documents regulating Kazakhstan and Oman interaction in various spheres. It is planned to hold Kazakhstan Culture Days in Maskat in 2010.
