The Academic Council of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KNU) named after will hold a meeting on the establishment of a new Institute for Security and Cooperation in Almaty, Feb. 26, the University told Trend  

"Opening such an institute is an important event developing the President's policy and his initiatives for scientific and analytical support of the national security," the message says

The KNU scientists have created a special institute, which will initiate the scientific development in innovative approaches to strengthen national security ensuring systems and promoting international cooperation, the university said

In the future the Institute based on systematic research will offer science-based proposals and recommendations to the responsible (authoritative) government and other bodies dealing with national security and international cooperation

The new institute will be formed of highly-qualified political scientists, economists, sociologists and other professionals engaged in the national security and international cooperation

The institute will consist of three departments: internal policy, economic analysis and forecasting and international department.

The Institute will monitor the internal political and socio-economic development of Kazakhstan and neighboring countries, studying security issues and trends in world economy and politics, the analysis of their impact on development of Kazakhstan's economy and its role in the international community

Establishment of this institute is actually in the year of the country's chairmanship in OSCE, when Kazakhstan is expected to offer new solutions for problems of security and international cooperation
