The number of crimes related to drugs increased in Baku during two months of this year, told the press conference of Baku Head Police Department.
During two months of this year, 290 drug-related crimes were recorded in Baku. During the same period of last year, the figure was 245, said the spokesperson of the Department Galib Arif.
The rate of revealing such crimes was high - 88 percent. Revealing crimes related to the sale of drugs also increased by 15 percent. During two months of this year, 33.3 kilograms of drugs, which is approximately 30 percent more than the same period of last year, was withdrawn, he said.
During the reported period, 1,569 crimes were recorded in the city of Baku. The number of crimes recorded for the two months of this year was 4.9 percent more than the same period of last year. However, the rate of revealing increased and reached 69 percent. Compared with the same period of last year, the number of such heinous crimes against the person as murder, kidnapping, rape reduced and their revealing rate was 100 percent.
The number of crimes committed against property in January and February this year increased by 11.3 percent compared with the same period of last year. During the first two months of 2010, such crimes as taking people hostage, gangsterism were not recorded.
During the first two months of 2010, violations of road movement and vehicle operation rules increased 15 percent. Deaths also increased from 41 to 52.
