The Azerbaijani Parliament decided to amend the 'Law on status of refugees and IDPs (those relocated within the country)" at its meeting.

Based on the changes, the family of a person, who was granted refugee status, also will receive a refugee certificate, a sample of which is approved by the Azerbaijani relevant executive authorities, as well as travel document authorizing the movement abroad in accordance with the Convention on the Refugees' Status from 1951, Deputy Parliamentary Social Policy Committee Chairman Musa Guliyev said.

According to him, refugee certificate that issued in a particular order is a document that confirms the identity of the refugee and allows him the right to legal residence in the territory of Azerbaijan.
In the former version of Article 12 of the Act, a person, who was granted refugee status and members of his family reaching the age of 16, provided to be granted refugee certificate in a specified sample.

He said the decision on the status of refugee and IDP is adopted by the Azerbaijani relevant executive authorities in three months from the date of registration of applications on refugee status and grants it within one month from the date of registration of IDP in the relevant executive authority.
