The Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) will clarify voter lists as part of the forthcoming parliamentary elections, CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov said.
The CEC plans to submit a new revised voters list by late May, Panahov said.
Parliamentary elections will be held in Azerbaijan in autumn this year. Previously, elections took place in November 2005. In Azerbaijan, parliamentary elections are held by the majority system in 125 electoral districts.
Panahov said the commission is holding educational activities as preparations for the elections. The CEC is also ending its monitoring in the constituencies.
"The monitoring was conducted at a high level. We believe that all districts are ready to advance to the electoral process," he said.
Regarding the date of the parliamentary elections, Panahov noted that no official statement on the matter was made.
"I think that the elections will be held within the constitutional deadlines," Panahov said.
He also noted that in the near future the CEC will move to a new building to create conditions for holding elections at an even higher level.
