Georgian Interior Ministry detained the country's five citizens engaged in import into Georgia a large consignment of cocaine. Head of the Analysis Department of Georgia Shota Utiashvili said at a briefing.

According to him, the group was headed by Greece citizen Nugzar Bochorishvili, who was born in Georgia, now residing in Spain and member of a gang of the well-known authority Zakro Kalashov.

"This man carried the drug trafficking through Georgia to Europe on Kalashov's instructions," Utiashvili said. According to him, 1.7 million euros, which belonged to a criminal group were found in a greenhouse in the village Geguti.

According to the Georgian Interior Ministry, drugs, mostly cocaine, were transported from Peru, Colombia and Panama through sea to Poti and from there shipped to Europe.

As a result of the special operation Georgian citizens Anastasia Zautashvili, Mevlud Svanidze, Roman Museliani, Giorgi Chechelashvili and Tengiz Gurchiani were arrested.

In total, 90 kilograms of cocaine, which was imported into Georgia as scrap metal was seized in the port of Poti. "This is just one consignment, and we have information that these consignments were also earlier" he said.

It should be noted that Kalashov was sentenced last week in Spain for 7 years as the head of a criminal gang.
