The U.S. and Turkmenistan formally prolonged the agreement and cooperation in the field of drug control and contribution to law enforcement.

According to the website of the U.S. Embassy in Ashgabat, the signing ceremony of the third addition to the agreement signed in September of 2001 took place in Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry in Ashgabat.

From the Turkmen side document was signed by the deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, from the American side - Charge d'Affaires in Turkmenistan Sylvia Reed Curran.

Addition "adds a new sirection of cooperation by providing additional funding for the establishment and support of the project "criminalists and investigators" within the interaction with the staff of the Turkmen State Service on combating drugs.

The project "criminalists and investigators" is continuation of support the efforts on the project for the development of forensic laboratory and the project on combating drugs, the report said.

Within new project law enforcement experts from the U.S., mainly experts of the Office of Counternarcotics Enforcement will provide training for the collection of evidence, crime scene investigation and forensic expertise.

Also within the project basic supplies and equipment will be provided to gather evidence on the ground by the units on combating drug and experts.
