Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato' Sri Anifah bin Haji Aman is expected to visit Turkmenistan in the near future, an official Turkmen source reported. Haji Aman will be accompanied by a large delegation.
During the visit, Haji Aman will meet with Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov and visit the tourist resort "Avaza" on the Caspian Sea coast.
The Malaysian state national company Petronas Charigali operates in the Turkmen market. The company signed the PSA with the Turkmen government in 1996 for the development of the Turkmen sector of the Caspian.
The contract area includes the fields Diyarbekir, Magtamguli, Ovez, Mashrikov and Garagol- Denis. Proved reserves are not less than $ 1 trillion cubic meters of gas, more than 200 million tons of oil and 300 million tons of gas condensate. The contract area is about 1,467 square kilometers.
The company's total investment to start a project exceeded $2.3 billion since 2010. Industrial production and export of oil began in May 2006. It is expected to begin export of associated gas - up to 10 billion cubic meters a year in 2010. The company uses route via Azerbaijan and Iran for oil transportation. Since the beginning of the project, the company has drilled 30 exploration, appraisal and development wells, all of them showed significant inflows of hydrocarbons.
