Ukraine wants closer political ties with Azerbaijan.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Konstantin Grishenko will discuss increasing political cooperation between the two countries during his upcoming visit to Azerbaijan.
Grishenko will pay his first official visit to Azerbaijan July17-18, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Information Policy Department head Oleg Voloshin told Ukrainian media.
Voloshin added that Grishenko will meet with Azerbaijani state leaders to discuss security issues in the Caucasus and energy projects.
Grishenko was recently appointed as Ukraine's FM. He has expressed his intention to forge closer relations with Azerbaijan and to find unified positions on important political issues, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Ukraine Talat Aliyev told Trend.
Grishenko will arrive in Baku after attending an informal OSCE meeting July 16-17 in Almaty.
