Netherlands Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin, on a visit to Baku, highly appreciated reforms implemented in the field of Azerbaijani migration and achievements in this field during a meeting with the head of State Migration Service Arzu Rahimov.
Minister appreciated the steps taken to further develop mutual economic, social and cultural ties between our two countries. He said that Azerbaijan is strengthening its position in the region, the migration service said.
Ballin said that he attaches great importance to developing relations between the Netherlands and Azerbaijan, and plans to implement specific measures.
Minister expressed confidence that his visit will have a positive impact and contribute to a greater development of relations, including cooperation in the migration sphere, progress in the prevention of illegal migration.
Rahimov said that friendly relations between Azerbaijan and the Netherlands continue to develop. Currently, there are opportunities to improve and bring immigration legislation of Azerbaijan in line with modern international standards and requirements, ensure sustainable socio-economic, demographic development, efficient use of labor resources, conduct public policy to prevent illegal migration.
Rahimov informed the guest that as a result of applying the "single window" since July 1, 2009, significant results in improving the migration mechanisms, issuing permits for foreigners and persons without citizenship, for their living and lawful business in the Azerbaijani Republic, as well as simplify procedures for registration of residence were achieved in the country.
The sides discussed prospects of further cooperation, expansion of mutual ties to combat illegal migration. The views on other issues of mutual interest were exchanged.
