A large-scale project on human rights is held with the participation of UNDP (UN Development Programme), the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the European Union in Turkmenistan.

A large-scale project on human rights is held with the participation of UN Development Programme (UNDP ), the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the European Union in Turkmenistan.

The project is held in partnership with the country's Government.

According to UN press release, the question is about strengthening Turkmenistan's potential for submission of  various reports to UN treaty bodies in respect of their obligations in the sphere of human rights and enhancing knowledge and capacity of rights holders to claim their rights."

Within the project works are underway to raise awareness of senior officials and law enforcement agencies on international human rights standards and their practical application. In addition, activities are held on reporting under the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination and the Convention against Torture.

The message includes UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan Lenni Montiel's words that "the UN agencies in partnership with the EU support the Turkmen Government's efforts on submission of national reports to UN treaty bodies."

Ashgabat will complete a workshop preparation of Turkmenistan's periodic report under the Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) in these days.
