The Uzbek Government will provide peoples affected by floods in Pakistan with humanitarian aid, a source in the Government of the Republic said.

Forty tons of cargo worth $300,000 - tents, blankets, drinking water, medicines, food, clothing for adults and children will be sent to Pakistan.

Delivery of cargo with humanitarian aid from Uzbekistan is scheduled for Saturday.

The Uzbek President Islam Karimov in his letter to Pakistan's leadership has expressed condolences on the loss of many lives as a result of floods.

It was reported that UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon at the UN General Assembly session called for Aug. 19 to render humanitarian aid to Pakistan called the situation in this country a global catastrophe.

The UN has presented a plan of emergency measures to help peoples affected by flood in Pakistan in the next 90 days. The organization requested $460 million for its execution from donors.
