Georgia's health minister leaves his post

Georgia, Tbilisi, August 31 /Trend, N.Kirtskhalia/

Minister of Health, Labour and Social Protection of Georgia Alexander Kvitashvili left his office, he said to a special briefing on August 31.
According to Kvitashvili, he intends to take the post of Acting Rector of Tbilisi State University named after Ivan Javakhishvili.

"Today, the Academic Council of the TSU will consider my candidacy for the post of acting rector, and I, therefore, left my post in order not to interfere in the decision of the Council. I am honored to assume the post of acting rector, if any decision is taken, the more my grandfather worked for a long time as dean of the history faculty," he said.

Kvitashvili thanked the President, the Prime Minister, his staff and physicians for their support. "I can not name a successor, but I can only say that the acting minister will be my deputy Irakli Giorgobiani," he said.
Alexander Kvitashvili was appointed Minister of Health, Labour and Social Protection of Georgia on Jan. 31, 2008.
