The expected appointment of Irakli Kavtaradze, First Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee, as Georgia's ambassador to Azerbaijan is in doubt after Baku expressed its views on the nomination, the Deputy Georgian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Nikoloz Gogitidze, has said.
Gogitidze said that the Georgian government will appoint Kavtaradze to another ambassadorial post although he did not know to which country.
Kavtaradze nomination had been approved by the Georgian Parliament in April after President Mikheil Saakashvili's put him forward for the ambassadorship. Since then, however, Baku has showed displeasure at the nomination and Kavtaradze's candidacy has stalled.
