Former Latvian President Vike-Freiberga starts visit to Azerbaijan

Ex-President of Latvia (1999-2007), Special Envoy to the UN Secretary General, vice-chair of the Reflection group on the long term future of the European Union Vaira Vike-Freiberga, on invitation of "YES Azerbaijan" international advisory group on Saturday arrived in Baku, group member Rovshan Muradov told Trend.

Azerbaijan, Baku, September 12 /Trend, R.Darakhshan/

Ex-President of Latvia (1999-2007), Special Envoy to the UN Secretary General, vice-chair of the Reflection group on the long term future of the European Union Vaira Vike-Freiberga, on invitation of "YES Azerbaijan" international advisory group on Saturday arrived in Baku, group member Rovshan Muradov told Trend.

Vike-Freiberga was met by MPs Ganira Pashayeva and Gular Ahmedova, the Latvian Ambassador to Azerbaijan and representatives of the "YES Azerbaijan".

MP Pashayeva briefed the guest about the ongoing economic development in Azerbaijan and the eager activity of women in the country.

Vike-Freiberga said that she kept a good impression of her visit to Azerbaijan in 2005 and pleased that she is in this country once again at the invitation of young people.

Former president noted that relations between Azerbaijan and Latvia are developing.
