Georgian Parliament Deputy Speaker Giorgi Tsereteli received the Regional Director of the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS, Dennis Brown and coordinator of the of the program in Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia Manuela Grozdanova.

Tsereteli informed the guests with a package of legislative initiatives in relation to drug policy. He said one of the main reasons for the spread of AIDS in Georgia is intravenous drug use, that's why great importance is attached to consideration of the package in Parliament.

In 2009, in cooperation with the UN agency the Parliament adopted a law on AIDS, which has created a solid legislative base for implementation of new programs.

The meeting discussed in detail a new cooperation strategy and action plan until 2015.
