Coalition for Democracy and Civil Society: Serious violations at elections in Kyrgyzstan not yet reported

Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, October 10 / Trend, N. Tanaev /

The elections are held normally in Kyrgyzstan, and serious violations have not been reported yet, head of the Coalition "For Democracy and Civil Society" Dinara Oshurakhunova said.

"At 14:00, the elections are held normally in general. There are no serious violations in those areas where our observers participate (the Coalition's mobile groups are working throughout the country and monitor violations at polling stations)" Oshurakhunova told Trend.

She said only minor violations are observed which are related to the procedures - lots are not casted, the marking is not demonstrated, and others. Observers, in turn, help to eliminate these shortcomings.

According to Oshurakhunova, the organization also receives calls from ordinary citizens.

"So it is known about a hidden campaign of several parties in Bishkek - it appears that outside of polling stations they try to talk to people and try to convince them to vote for one or another party. According to our data, all is quite in Osh," she said.

She said, they received a call from one polling station in Bishkek, where the commission had to temporarily suspend the voting process as a ballot box due to the great flow of voters and length of bulletins (Note: this election ballot is longer than usual, as 29 parties  attend the elections. This is the greatest number of parties in the history of elections in the Kyrgyz Republic) filled.

"This issue is solved. Voters are really too active," Oshurakhunova said.
