The Prime Minister of Georgia Nika Gilauri congratulated Azerbaijanis on the Qurban Holiday. The head of the government visited the Marneuli region, visited a local mosque, and greeted the believers.

The Prime Minister told reporters that the tradition of the Muslim holiday is very interesting and important, as its main purpose is to help the poor.

"Every year we provide aid products the local mosques for 2,500 people and they are distributed to the poor," he said.

Georgian Muslims, with majority of Azerbaijanis compactly living in Kvemo Kartli region, celebrate Qurban Holiday within three days.

The religious rite of sacrifice appeared after the case with the Prophet Ibrahim. Ibrahim dreamed that Allah ordered him to sacrifice his son Ismail to test his faith. As a true believer, Ibrahim was ready to execute an instruction of Allah. Ismail himself was ready to become a victim. However, according to Quran, Allah sent a sheep and it was sacrificed.

During Qurban holiday every noble Muslim must sacrifice an animal, and gift meat to the poor and indigent. Here the main goal is to become a true believer. Quran says: "Allah needs neither meat, nor blood of animal, but only your faith".
