The Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) reviewed appeals received in connection with the parliamentary elections at a meeting today.

The commission rejected three of eight appeals after the legal deadline for the submission of complaints. The rest were not granted

Azerbaijan held the elections on Nov. 7.

Committee member Gulaga Aslanli said the media have reported that he undersigned the final CEC protocol, although he did not sign the document.

"This is a technical error, and we will correct it," CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov said.

Seventeen of 18 CEC members signed the protocol.

The voter turnout hit about 50.14 percent (roughly 2.48 million voters) in Azerbaijan, the CEC's Elections Information Center told Trend.

The CEC reported that 690 candidates were running for the parliamentary elections.

Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies. Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005.
