Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 1 / Trend T. Hajiyev /
Two members left the Azerbaijani opposition Musavat Party. Of course, it affects the activity of the party, Arzu Samadbayli, deputy head of the party, told Trend.
"These two individuals are quite famous people who played a role in the party's activity. Naturally, their leaving will affect the political activity of the party. However, the party will continue its activity", he said.
Sulheddin Akbar, chairman of the majlis of the Musavat Party and Ibrahim Ibrahimli, member of the party resigned Nov. 29. Akbar explained this step as disagreement with the strategic course of the party. Ibrahim Ibrahimli cited as evidence the fact that the party leadership does not trust him.
He said that members of the party join the party and leave it. It is a normal phenomenon.
"The leadership will discuss the impact of these two men's leaving the party on the party's activity. The decisions will be taken," he said.
Musavat Party was established in October 1911 in Baku. On May 28, 1918 in Tbilisi, Musavat Party together with several parties announced the independence of Azerbaijan. In connection with the occupation of Azerbaijan by the Red Army in 1920, Musavat Party proceeded to the secret activities.
The party was re-launched Nov. 7, 1992. Isa Gambar was elected chief of the party. A former parliamentary speaker, Gambar ran in the 2003 presidential elections. The party has four MPs in parliament.
