The Youth Forum of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and the Iranian National Youth Organization (NYOI) signed an action plan this week.
The document outlines specific activities of cooperation and was signed by OIC Youth Forum Secretary General Elshad Isgandarov and NYOI Director Mehdi Souli.
Based on the document, Iran will host an international conference in 2011 on strengthening the role of youth in the process of convergence among Muslims and schools. The plan also envisages the organization of joint activities within the framework of Humanitarian Tragedy Remembrance Day in OIC countries.
Isgandarov participated in the first session of the Youth Ministers of the Organization of Economic Cooperation Organization in Tehran.
Isgandarov spoke about forum programs aimed at the active participation of OIC countries in the dialogue between civilizations, the development of youth intellectual potential in member countries, and activities to promote entrepreneurial activity. He also discussed the plans of the Forum on the Network of Young Entrepreneurs in OIC Countries. The network will actively involve youth in small- and medium-sized businesses through online collaboration. The network will launch in Baku next year.
Isgandarov also met Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who was informed about the OIC's activities. He also met with the Pakistani, Iraqi and Lebanonese youth ministers, as well as the NYOI chairman and Iranian Vice President Mehrdad Barzpash. During the meeting, the sides discussed cooperation between organizations.
The OIC was founded on Sept. 25, 1969 at a conference of the heads of Muslim countries in Rabat to ensure Islamic solidarity in the social, economic and political spheres, the struggle against colonialism, neocolonialism and racism and to support the Palestine Liberation Organization.
