Georgia, Tbilisi, Dec. 3 / Trend N. Kirtskhalia /

If Russian airlines will carry out flights to Abkhazia, it will be considered a violation of a single European space, which, naturally, would be unacceptable for Europe, Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Vera Kobalia told reporters.

Military actions were launched in the unrecognized republic of South Ossetia in August 2008. Georgian troops entered Tskhinvali, with Russian troops later occupying the city. The Russian armed forces drove the Georgian military back into Georgia proper. Russia recognized the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia on Aug. 26 and established diplomatic ties with the de facto states on Sept. 9, 2008.

The minister said that Georgia's accession into the single European space will make Georgian aviation service more secure.

According to Kobalia, in addition to the political side, this fact will bring economic effect to the country. According to her, membership in the single European airspace will increase competition in the aviation market that will affect ticket prices.

Georgia and the EU finalized an agreement on a single airspace Dec.2. The document was signed by 27 countries - EU members.
