Georgia, Tbilisi, Dec. 6 / Trend N. Kirtskhalia /
The trial of Georgian citizen Babutsa Gordadze who was detained in Malaysia on drug trafficking will be held today. A second detainee Daredjan Kokhtashvili will face trial on Dec. 13, Georgian Prosecutor's Office Legal Department head Irakli Chilingarashvili told journalists today.
A Georgian delegation, which included Chilingarashvili, returned from Malaysia three days ago. According to the official, they met with Gordadze and Kohtashvili. The detainees have not plead guilty, and claim that they are victims of a crime.
The Georgian side handed over to the Malaysian side Babutsa Gordadze's spouse Eldar Davitiani's testimony, in which he takes the blame upon himself. According to Chilingarashvili, Davitiani's testimony will help the detainees.
Gordadze and Kohtashvili were arrested in Malaysia on Oct. 24 on charges of drug trafficking. If they are proven guilt, they may face the death penalty.
