Georgia, Latvia discuss military cooperation

Chief of the Joint Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces, Major General Devi Tchankotadze and his Latvian counterpart Raimonds Graube have today mulled the question of bilateral military cooperation.

Chief of the Joint Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces, Major General Devi Tchankotadze and his Latvian counterpart Raimonds Graube have today mulled the question of bilateral military cooperation.

Tchankotadze and Graube visited the Georgian National Defense Center in Krtsanisi and met with military personnel. Tchankotadze thanked the guest for the assistance provided by Latvia in the rehabilitation of the Georgian militaries.

"In addition, Latvia helps us in preparing the officers-engineers. We are acquainted them with the experience of the Georgian-Russian war. It was a question about participation of Georgian contingent in the peacekeeping operation in Afghanistan," Tchankotadze said.

In turn, Graube noted that this is his first visit to Georgia. He stressed that he was very impressed after examining Krtsanisi center.

According to him, the Georgian and Latvian colleagues are expected to exchange experiences in the military sphere.
