In the issue of Caspian Sea delimitation Turkmenistan firmly adheres to the position that the sea should be delimitated into internal waters, territorial sea and common waters, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov told reporters on Saturday in Ashgabat.
"We agreed to establish a 25-nautical miles territorial sea, which should be under the full sovereignty of the coastal State. We propose to declare the outer limit of territorial sea the state border", he said.
"We have always been and will be opposed to any attempts to give a political tinge to any outstanding issues on the Caspian Sea", he added.
According to the Turkmen leader, "delimitation of the seabed and subsoil of the Caspian Sea is a purely legal problem that must be resolved exclusively through diplomatic and legal means and methods"
