Turkey's relations with countries in the Turkic world are closer today than several years ago, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told the Aksam newspaper after returning from Turkmenistan.
He highlighted Turkish-Azerbaijani and Turkish-Kazakh ties, which, he said, have never been so strong.
Davutoglu visited Ashgabat to attend the events marking the fifteenth anniversary of the adoption of Turkmenistan's status of neutrality.
Davutoglu met with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, Uzbek Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ahmad Qureshi, Afghan Foreign Minister Zalmai Rasul and Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov.
