Authorities in Russia on Friday warned they would use water canon and tear gas in the event of further street violence, following clashes between ultra-nationalists and immigrant groups in Moscow, reported dpa.
Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliev said authorities would take drastic steps in the event of renewed clashes. President Dmitry Medvedev called on the internal security service to identify the "criminals" involved in the riots.
According to media reports Friday, ultra-nationalists and migrants, as well as their supporters were preparing to hold mass rallies over the weekend.
Tensions have been rising in Russia for days, after suspects stemming from the Caucasus were alleged to have recently shot a Russian football fan.
In the capital alone, 1,300 people were detained on Wednesday by thousands of security forces deployed to counter the skirmishes between extreme right-wing groups and Caucasian nationals.
