Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 28 / Trend M. Aliyev /

Armenia adheres to the unconstructive position at the negotiation table and tries to protract the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict for many years, which we cannot allow, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said in an interview with the Lebanese magazine "Al Havadis".

According to him, Azerbaijan's just position is supported at a world level and the Arab countries also play an important role in this support.

Mammadyarov noted that international organizations recognize Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and condemn Armenia's occupation policy.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the United States - are currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
