One of the priorities of Azerbaijan's foreign policy is to strengthen relations with neighboring countries, primarily with Russia, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said in an interview with the Arabic Desk of the Russia Today television channel.

"This year, Azerbaijan marks the 20th anniversary of the independence and over the years, our foreign policy has achieved great successes for the benefit of the country," Mammadyarov said.

Moreover, Azerbaijan, he said, also takes into account the interests of neighboring countries.

"In 2011, Azerbaijan and Russia signed an agreement on border delimitation and we wait for the ratification of the document by the Russian State Duma. This will help to eliminate the problems on the border between our countries," he said.

The agreement on the delimitation of borders between Azerbaijan and Russia was signed on Nov.18, 2010.
