Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov received Turkish Ambassador to Turkmenistan Sevki Mutevellioglu this week, the Turkmen government said.
The diplomat conveyed Turkish President Abdullah Gul's greetings, saying "Turkey appreciates the peaceful policy and large-scale reforms carried out in Turkmenistan, with which Turkey is linked by a common history and culture."
Berdimuhammadov emphasized that "the fraternal relations between the Turkmen and Turkish peoples have their roots in the ages of old."
Views were exchanged on the major directions of bilateral relations. The Turkmen leader noted the contribution of Turkish companies, which are taking an active part in the country's main projects, in the modernization of the textile and other industries.
So far, Turkmenistan has registered about 600 companies with Turkish capital.
Ankara has expressed an interest in transporting Caspian energy resources to Europe via the Caspian Sea and Turkey. Ashgabat has also attracted Turkish companies to the construction of the Caspian Avaz Resort.
