Georgian soldier killed by landmine in Afghanistan

The Georgian Defense Ministry reported that a Georgian soldier, Corporal Giorgi Avaliani, was killed during the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan.
Avaliani was killed as a result of a mine explosion. Due to the blast, two corporals Nikoloz Deisadze and Ednar Abuladze were also wounded. They will be given treatment in Germany.
The ministry extended its condolences to the family of the deceased soldier.
Avaliani was serving in the 32nd Battalion in the province of Helmand within the ISAF peacekeeping mission. The corporal had been enrolled in the armed forces since 2008. During his service, he was awarded with the Service Medal for Combat Wounds.
Avaliani is the sixth Georgian soldier to die in Afghanistan.
