The events taking place in Libya in the past two weeks have weakened the position and strength of the Libyan authorities in the country, and this could lead to the fact that some terrorist organizations take the advantage of the situation to get into Libya and to strengthen their position here, said Dr. of Political Sciences Farouk Mardam.

"The situation in Libya is favorable for the penetration of terrorist organizations here," Mardam told Trend by telephone from Paris.

Protest actions in the Libyan provinces demanding Gaddafi's resignation and all senior officials have been continuing since Feb. 15. The country's authorities suppressed the demonstration.
During the suppression of mass demonstrations in the Libyan city of Benghazi, 560 people were killed, while more than 4,000 people were injured. Officially, authorities confirm the death of only 84 persons.

The impetus for the demonstrations in Libya was the development in the neighboring Arab countries. Demonstrations and rallies led to a power change in Egypt and Tunisia.

Muammar Gaddafi's son Seiful-Islam Gaddafi said on Friday in an interview with CNN Turk that some terrorist organizations take advantage of the situation in Libya to get strengthened in the country. He added that the inhabitants of the cities of Benghazi and Derna have made complaints with the demand to expel the terrorists from these cities.

According to Mardam, if Gaddafi can not take the situation in the country under his control, the Afghan scenario with coming to power of Islamic radicals may repeat in Libya.

He also believes that in this case the U.S. authorities will be able to use the situation in Libya in order to bring its troops to the country and establish control over Libya under the guise of combating terrorism.

"The U.S. will not miss this opportunity to repeat the Iraqi scenario in Libya," he said.
