The First Congress of Women of Kazakhstan dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the country's independence and timed to the International Women's Day started its work at the Independence Palace in Astana on Saturday.
President Nursultan Nazarbayev attended the Congress.
The event was attended by prominent women from all regions of Kazakhstan.
The congress was held to discuss women's role in socio-political and socio-economic development of the country, defining development prospects of the state gender policy. A resolution will be adopted a result of the congress.
