Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili welcomed dialogue with the
opposition to ensure more free elections in the country, hia
spokesperson Manana Manjgaladze said at a traditional briefing on
Tuesday.

She familiarized journalists with Saakashvili's position after the
negotiations to improve the electoral environment between the eight
opposition parties and authorities.

She said the president also welcomes the dialogue, which provides for
the principle that free elections must be held in Georgia.

"These elections were held in accordance with the Electoral Code," she
said. The basic articles were based on consensus reached between the
political forces. The compromise is the only forum for a dialogue. Any
political force must follow this way."
