Kazakh president: Opposition parties ignore call to vote

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said opposition parties have ignored our calls to participate in elections.

"Although we have actively encouraged them, unfortunately, the opposition parties did not participate in the elections. But, as they say, it is their business and voluntary decision," Nazarbayev said at a press-conference in Astana.

The presidential elections were held in Kazakhstan on Sunday. According to CEC's initial report, Nazarbayev is in the lead with 95.5 percent of the votes.

Votes for the other three candidates are as following: Zhambyl Ahmatbekov - 1.4 percent of the votes, Mels Eleusizov- 1.2 percent, Gani Kasimov - 1.9 percent.
