The leaders of the Los Angeles County sent congratulations on the 88th anniversary of Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev to Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijani Consulate General in Los Angeles marked the 88 anniversary of Aliyev and the Los Angeles County's formal greetings were presented during the event, the consulate general said.
An official representative of the local authorities spoke about the strategic nature of the U.S.-Azerbaijani relations, Aliyev's role in the development of a bilateral partnership and the Azerbaijani community's contribution to cultural diversity in California.
Azerbaijani Culture Ministry Apparatus head Firudin Gurbanov, Azerbaijani Consul General in Los Angeles Elin Suleymanov and Founder of Azerbaijan International Piruz Khanli also spoke at the event. Khanli stressed that Aliyev had a deep understanding of Azerbaijani culture.
The event was attended by representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora in California and a delegation of Azerbaijani musicians.
