Azerbaijan, Baku, May 17 / Trend M. Aliyev /
The Azerbaijani parliament adopted changes to the law on entry and departure from the country and passports to simplify visa rules for tourists arriving in Azerbaijan.
According to the amendments, the visas will be processed through travel agencies that will play a mediating role between foreigners and diplomatic missions to increase the tourist flow into the country.
The main advantage is that the visas can be issued either through telegraph or e-mail.
If a person fails to get a visa, the reasons for the refusal must be explained.
In this case, tourists may get a one-time visa for entry and departure and stay in the country for 30 days.
According to the law, the term may be extended in force majeure case.
It is provided by a Cabinet of Ministers decision dated June 9, 2009, regulating the entry and departure of foreigners.
Foreigners must indicate the purpose of the visit and the term of the stay in their applications to be submitted to embassies and consulate offices in their country of residence or in third countries to get their visa.
The visas are made through the "entry-departure and registration" inter-department automated information search system.
The deadline for the application process is 15 days from the date of submission.
These changes are carried out mainly in connection with the Year of Tourism announced in Azerbaijan in 2011.
