Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday familiarized himself with the ongoing improvement and construction works around State Flag Square, the Azerbaijani President's official website reported.
The state flag was raised at this square for the first time on September 1, 2010. On November 9, 2010, during the ceremony on the occasion of the Day of State Flag, marked for the first time in Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev gave instructions on the construction works around the State Flag Square.
During the Cabinet`s meeting on socio-economic outcomes of 2010, President Ilham Aliyev called the Flag Square the symbol of Azerbaijan`s independence, noting this project was one of the important ones being realized in the country.
The Head of State noted works had been done in the 60-ha territory around the Flag Square to build parks, boulevard, and places for having rest.
President also expressed hope the project would be completed by the end of this year. The Head of State was informed about the works being done around the State Flag Square.
The President gave relevant instructions.
