A favorable demographic situation is nothing unusual for Turkmenistan, the Turkmen State Statistics Committee reported.
The population increases annually and the proportion of able-bodied persons is high.
Based on the official estimates of the UN, Turkmenistan's population will grow steadily in the future.
"The country's labor potential is characterized by the number of economically active population. The absolute number of Turkmenistan's employed people has increased in 1.6 times during independence," the report reads.
The committee stresses that the transition to a market economy in Turkmenistan, was accompanied by changes in the structure of employment.
According to studies, economic reform and active investment policy had a positive impact on increasing employment in various sectors of the economy.
The number of workers employed in the private sector (including mixed form) increased by 2.7 times in 1991-2010, while their share in total number of the employed population increased to 75 percent.
