Women must more actively demonstrate their position on the modern world's problems, Deputy Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Bahar Muradova said at the opening of the International Conference "Role of Women in the 21st century: responsibility of women in politics" in Baku on Monday.

The conference, organized by the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries (TurkPA), was held in the Parliament. It is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of independence of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

"Women must be more active in resolving the problems of the modern world," she said. "They must be more responsible in solving the problems of the territorial integrity of the country. They must also take a decisive stand dealing with family and children's rights."

She said that the role of women in politics and public life increases day by day.

Muradova also spoke about the achievements of Turkic unity. She stressed that the TurkPA plays an important role. "The world now witnesses that Turkic unity, and the Turkic language and culture has reached a new level," she said.
