Agenda of the visit of Deputy Secretary of State to Azerbaijan released

Deputy Secretary of State William J. Burns will travel to Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia from October 16-20, reported Trend with reference to embassy of United States in Azerbaijan.

He will meet with government leaders and civil society representatives to discuss strategic and shared interests in the region, including regional peace and security, economic development, and democratic reform.

Earlier, U.S. ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza told journalists, that U.S. First Deputy Secretary of State William Burns will arrive in Baku.

In September 2011, Burns met in the margins of the UN General Assembly with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.

According to Bryza, Burns visit to Baku will focus on democracy and human rights.

Bryza did not specify the visit's details and subject of Burns's upcoming negotiations in Baku.

This is Burn's second visit to Azerbaijan . Earlier, he visited Baku in February 2010.
