Azerbaijan, as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council (UNSC), has defined priorities for its future activity in this organization.

Along with support for national interests, the country's priorities in the UN Security Council will be support for peace and stability, conflict resolution, combating global warming, poverty eradication within the UN millennium program, encouragement and wide promotion of multiculturalism by example of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said in a meeting with the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy's (ADA) students and faculty on Friday.

Azerbaijan has been elected a UNSC nonpermanent member for 2012 -2013.
Mammadyarov informed the students about elections to the UN Security Council, Azerbaijan's strategic and tactical measures in order to be elected to this organization, ADA said.

ADA Rector, Deputy Foreign Minister Hafiz Pashayev congratulated Mammadyarov and all members of the Foreign Ministry on the victory.
