President Ilham Aliyev has today participated in a groundbreaking ceremony of the Central Scientific Library of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
The Head of State viewed a draft plan of the library.
Chief of the ANAS Mahmud Karimov and chairman of the Azeragrartikinti Agalar Valiyev said 0.9 hectares of area was allocated for the library. A total construction site is 24,180 square meters.
The Head of State was informed that the closed funds, which are intended for keeping 3,300,000 items, will be set up here. The open funds will cover about one millions copies. The readers' hall of the library will serve about 700 visitors.
The museum, a waiting room, cafeteria, photo laboratory, file-cabinet and archive room will be located on the ground floor of the library.
The first floor of the library is designed for bookselling center, three readers' halls, server and rest-room.
The Head of State was informed that film and microfilm funds will be also created here. Besides, the library will feature sections on international exchange, scientific-information, bibliography, librarian science and linguistic center. The library will be commissioned in 2013.
President Ilham Aliyev placed a capsule into the foundation and filled it with concrete.
The Head of State gave relevant instructions on construction of the library.
