Georgian President stated that no alternative to European integration

Georgian President sees no alternative to the European Development of Georgia. "For Georgia, Europe is a family, we strive for a long time as one of the oldest European nations," - said during a speech at the 20th Congress of the European People's Party in Marseille Mikhail Saakashvili, president of Georgia.

He also reiterated the continued occupation of Europe on the territory of Georgia by Russia. "Georgia is a victim of Russian aggression in 2008 and today this country is trying to legitimize the ethnic cleansing carried out. We are grateful to the European Parliament for the moral position and the adoption of a resolution which recognized the territorial integrity of Georgia, demanded begin the process of de-occupation. We know that initiated the adoption of this resolution is a European People's Party", - Saakashvili said, noting that Russia still does not comply with the EU signed a ceasefire agreement.

The President of Georgia underlined that despite the difficulties in the European Union, Georgia seeks to go there. "Europe will find its way in and out of the crisis, but offered us a Eurasian Union, we will not go, as we know it's past and we lived in the USSR, that they're trying to revive," he said.

Saakashvili said that processes in Russia indicate that democratic principles are important there. "The last rally in Moscow indicate specific processes", - he said.

The President of Georgia underlined that Russia will have to de-occupate Georgia and this is an irreversible process. "Russia has no resources to continue the occupation and it will necessarily have to go, as any occupation ends sooner or later," Saakashvili said.

The congress was attended by leading politicians and leaders of Europe. European People's Party has the largest faction in the European Parliament.
