Switzerland’s mediating role in its relations with Russia discussed at Georgian FM

Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze has today met with a delegation of the Federal Foreign Department, headed by director of the fourth political department Claude Wild.
The sides discussed urgent issues of bilateral and multilateral relations between Georgia and Switzerland, the Georgian Foreign Ministry told Trend.
The Georgian side was informed about the specific activity of the fourth political office of the Swiss Foreign Department, which oversees the mediation efforts between Georgia and Russia.
After the diplomatic relations were broken off between Georgia and Russia in 2008, Switzerland became a mediator in the relations between these two countries.
The main directions of the perspective cooperation in such important issues as multilateral peacekeeping policy, protection of human rights, migration and humanitarian policy were stressed.
